It was a pretty crazy ride, writing The Scar Gatherer books!

 

I'm Julia, and in this part of the site, I want to share with you some of the many, many things I learnt while I was writing the series, including what connects Vikings to mobile phones and what strange things the Victorians did when someone died.

There are plenty more strange facts in my books too, such as why you might hang your clothes over the toilet - find out in The Falconer's Quarry - and how and why you might remove your eyebrows if you were a rich lady living in the 1660s. You'll have to go and read The Demon in the Embers for that one, and believe me, the recipe options for hair remover are enough to make your hair fall out in horror!
